My scissor case sent

My scissor case has gone to...........? I hope my partner likes it! Sorry I am late posting, I am in DC and can't get home lol! We have a huge storm coming and my flight is cancelled. If my scissor case has been sent to me I will open it when I get home!

Scissor Case from Lynne

I received a beautiful Scissor Case from Lynne.

I have always liked Meri's Scissor designs and so I was really surprised and happy when I saw what she stitched for me.

She also included a pair of scissors.
The case has pretty brown ribbon at the top to tie it closed.
It has a pretty floral lining.

On the back is stitched the name of the scissors. How cute is that?
Note: I used the black fabric in the background to take the picture.
Thanks so much Lynne, I love it.

Altoid Tin Exchange

I also never made one, . sign me in. Nita, .thank you .
I will send my pm to you

Hugs from anita

Altoid Tin Exchange Sign-ups Open

Sign-ups are now open for the Altoid Tin Exchange.
Some important notes about this exchange:
You do not have to use an "Altoid" tin - any similar size tin will work.  How big is a standard Altoid Tin?  By my measurements:
3-13/16" (9.68 cm) long
2-7/16" (6.19 cm) wide
3/4" (1.91 cm) deep
Please do not use a "mini" tin (they are so cute. but really tiny!)
Other shapes can be used (I've got some round tins and even a couple of heart shaped tins), as long as they are a similar size.
Your decorated tin must include cross stitch (silly, I know, to have to state that - but we are primarily a cross-stitch group - not a clay or paint or paper-craft group).

Sign-ups open today and run through 22 February 2010.  Partners will be emailed by 1 March 2010, and the final mail-out date is 1 April 2010.  To sign up, please email me.  Put TTE Altoid Tin in the subject line, and include your name and address (so I can verify that I have the correct address).

Neat inspirations can be found here, here or here (Tokens and Trifles Rectangles are almost perfectly sized for Tin Toppers!).  I've listed a couple of tutorials all the way at the bottom of the blog (under Finishing Links).

Let's have fun with this one!

Lori Received A Scissor Pocket!

We haven't figured out why (yet), but Lori can't seem to post here.  So I've copied the photos she published on her blog of the Scissor Pocket she received from Miche'le (By Hoki Quilts) and posting them here.
Only a few more days until the deadline to get to get your exchanges in the mail!

28 January 2010

Scissor case from Nita!

My mailman usually makes noise when he drops off the mail - this time I didn't hear it, so I was surprised when we came back from the bus stop to see a package sticking out the top!

Inside I found a beautiful scissor case from Nita, complete with a matching fob and a new pair of scissors!
The back side says "A home for my scissors" - the flap has a beautiful button and says "TTE 2010", and she personalized it with our names, and a little "made with love" tag at the bottom.

Thank you, Nita, and I appreciate your "sacrifice" in giving up the scissors! LOL

26 January 2010

Wow - I think I'm the first to receive in the Scissor Case or Pocket Exchange!
I actually received this package from Lori on Thursday, 21 Jan, so I must apologize for my delay in posting. There were some personal matters occupying my attention.First, a long view so you can see the beautiful tassel:

Then a close-up of one side (:-( and the lining no longer looks gold),

And the other.

Thank-you so much, Lori, and thank-you for including the matching scissor fob and scissors!

Monique's Humbug

Here is the little humbug I stitched for Monique. I graphed this design of a Friendship Star myself and added a few little seed beads to jazz it up. I am glad it arrived safely and Monique is enjoying it.

Humbugs Received

Pictures will be posted a little later. (ETA - Pictures now posted!)

I received an adorable humbug from Ronel - Thank-you! - it's sooo cute, and the goodies you included were so sweet.
I also had an email from Liz that she had received the humbug I sent to her - phew! - I was really beginning to worry about it. I stitched her a teeny humbug, and then because it seemed to scream for it, a teeny bookmark and tag as well. I had bought a remnant of this fabric some time ago (I think it's Mary Englebreit - but now I am not sure - lol!) intending to make myself a project bag - and decided to quilt and sew a humbug project bag for Liz.

Anyone else?

Arrived !

Finally, this cute little humbug has arrived ! I was so worried that it would be lost in the Christmas mails !

Thank you Jenna :)

10 December 2009

Humbug from Fiona

I received this beautiful, jewel like, humbug from Fiona today.  Thank you very much Fiona, it is beautiful and the length of Christmas fabric it was wrapped in will be used to make more Christmas decorations.  Everything was tied together with a lovely ribbon (which I will also find a crafty use for!).

07 December 2009

Finally!

My humbug is in the mail with profuse apologies for its lateness! We moved house with a three week interval when everything was in storage and then (the really clever bit, lol) I moved into the new house and supervised the unloading of the furniture while Himself left for Europe the day BEFORE! During the three weeks, as Nita mentioned, William Edward Newport Kilner joined our family and I was able to travel to Idaho for a week of cuddles! Dear partner, I hope you like my stitching!

I'm also late in saying that I received a beautiful humbug from Jeanie, all the way from Singapore, along with some "little bits". All our mail is going to a PO box right now and I never seem to be able to pick it up in a timely manner. Thank you, dear Jeanie!

05 December 2009

Heard from Gillie

I had an email from Gillie. She's had a lot of Life happening, including the birth of her second grandson! But she plans to post her humbug very soon.

Gillie, would you please email me your Yahoo address - I don't have it in my records -Thanks!

Scissors Pocket or Case Exchange

Sign-ups are open for our next exchange - a Scissors Pocket or Case, which will be our first exchange of 2010!

You will be able to sign-up through 22 December 2009, and your partner’s info will be emailed to you by 2 January 2010. Deadline to mail out your Scissor Pocket or Case is 2 February 2010.

Please take a moment to review the exchange guidelines (link at top right of the sidebar).

Some things that are worth repeating from our Guidelines:

Remember that we are an international group, and make your plans accordingly.

"PROJECTS:

Each exchange will have a particular finish, such as: scissor fob, scissor case, needle case, pinkeep, biscornu, pincushion, floss tag, etc, or a particular theme. There are enough finishing variations in each of these categories to accommodate every ones finishing abilities, from novice to expert. Please keep in mind, you may be partnered with someone with more or less stitching and finishing ability than yourself, but as long as everyone does their best and sends out a piece that they would be happy to receive themselves, everyone should enjoy both the giving and the receiving!

Each project must be completely finished and ready to use.

Please use linen or evenweave fabric (your choice of color) rather than Aida. I love stitching on Aida as much as I do linen but it is harder to finish it smoothly in small projects like these. If you absolutely can't stitch on linen or evenweave for some reason, please let me know - I will confirm with your exchange partner that they will not mind receiving a piece stitched on Aida.

You have free choice of fibers used - specialty threads, metallics, silks, over-dyes, cotton floss, etc., etc.

Additional embellishments are allowed - buttons, beads, charms, ribbons, etc."

If you know of a good tutorial for a scissor pocket or case - won't you share? I haven't had a lot of opportunities to look lately.

Let's all have fun with this one!

04 December 2009

My humbug is here :D

My gorgeous humbug from Mare has arrived. She made a snowman one which is just so me as I love snowmen (not logical when I hate cold lol). Mare also included some pins that she made. They are much more delicate than they look in the pic and are just beautiful. I am so envious of her talent to make these. Thank you so much for my exchange parcel, Mare.

Lynne

Christmas Humbug Received

I have received the most beautiful Christmas Humbug from Gaby in Germany! Thanks so much Gaby - it is beautiful and your own design too! I will hang it with pleasure on our Christmas Tree and think of you! Thankyou and Merry Christmas!

Missing Exchanges?

My face is red!

Edited to change mailing deadline from two months to one month ago - obviously I can't count (which may be why I seem to have to frog a lot lately)! We do allow seven weeks before assuming an exchange is MIA - and I apologize for my error.

Thanks to all who pointed this silly mistake out to me.

From our Exchange Guidelines:

"If you do not fulfill your commitment or make other arrangements with me on an exchange, you will not be allowed to participate in another exchange until your previous commitment is met."

"8. If your item goes missing in the mail you will be asked to send another. If you cannot do this you will need to inform one of the mods. An item will be considered missing if it has not been received within 7 weeks of the send out date."

"9. Failure to complete an exchange in a satisfactory manner is grounds for immediate blacklisting."

I am very disturbed that we have four members who have not yet received a Needle Book. The mailing deadline was 2 November 2009 - that's a month ago!

And, we have quite a few Humbugs unaccounted for, as well.

If I've missed seeing a post and my records are incorrect - shame on me! email me and I'll joyfully fix my error.

If you haven't posted that you've sent or received an exchange - shame on you!

I've one Needle Book nearly completed to angel one member soon - and while I don't mind in the least doing so - and other members have been stitching angels in the past, as well - it should not be necessary!

Mail does get lost or misdirected - I've certainly had that happen to me in the past. It does seem to me that if it happens - we should make every effort to make it right.

What do you think?

Hi Nita

I have not received my needle book yet but in the sidebar it is showing me twice - once as receiving and once as not. It definitely hasn't arrived as yet!!

Would you correct that for me and perhaps check with my partner when she sent it to let her know it hasn't got here.......although actually I suppose she will know once she reads this...lol. I'm really hoping it isn't lost in the post somewhere.

Thanks,
Sharon (shebafudge)

Humbug Rec'd from Meari & I love it!

I just want to let everyone know that I was the lucky person to find Meari's pretty package in my mail box. I love it and it is tiny and cute. Meari included some pretty autumn colored fabric and floss. Thank you for such a pretty package and being a great exchange partner, love it! So now instead of "Bah humbug.... I can say Ahh a humbug"

My humbug came out a little bigger & is on it way to distant shores. I really found it hard deciding on what pattern to use given the shape of the thing. I stitched mine on 32 count and did a two sided design which was 30x35 so the whole thing was about 30 by 70.

Needle Book From Fiona

I have received my needle book from Fiona. She stitched a design from Victoria Sampler and used a pretty pink paisley print to finish it. It is my first design by Victoria Sampler and it is beautiful. She also sent me a special gift, a patchwork ornament, some buttons which I can never have enough of and a bookmark of the beach where she lives.

Fiona, I love the exchange, thanks so much for stitching the needle book and darling ornament for me.
